The Differences Between Plasma TVs and LCD TVs

lcd.jpgPurchases of large screen TVs has absolutely skyrocketed in recent times. It seems that everyone wants one - and with good reason. The big screen television has come a long way from those faded-out of the old behemoths, which took half of your living room and never really produces an image of good quality. Today, however, particularly when combined with HDTV, you can get not only a nice, big picture, but a dry, clean, too. Once you decide you are ready for a big screen TV, you will soon discover that you really only two options - a plasma TV or LCD TV. Plasma TVs were first on the scene, but the recent mass production of LCD TVs manufactured by large LCD TVs has been roughly on a par with plasmas. That said, you can always make a choice.

If you are like most people, you not only have no idea how the two differ, you do not even know the areas you should consider in order to determine how they differ. But they are indeed different, and know the difference is very important if you are going to get the TV for you. You can boil the essential differences between LCDs and plasmas in twelve points. In some regions, plasmas win. In other areas, LCDs will win. In other areas, it will depend on your personal taste to decide who wins.

Here is some different points between plasma TVs and LCD TVs :

  • The first is a technical question, and may seem a bit boring, but it really affect other areas. Plasma TV consist of chemical compounds known as phosphors. LCD TVs use millions of liquid crystals.
  • The following section is related to the way televisions are large and the availability of larger sizes. You have a wide choice of large televisions with plasma (although LCDs catch up).
  • The next section is “small”, which is also important. Plasmas do not come in smaller sizes, you need to places like the kitchen.
  • Then angle. Plasmas tend to have a wider viewing angle (although, once again, LCDs are catching up).
  • Although manufacturers may not like to admit it, each “may” suffer from some problems. Plasmas may suffer from burn-in effect; LCDs do not.
  • Another problem, but for LCDs, is the “delay”. LCDs can produce a figure sawtooth when in motion. Plasmas tend to do better. HDTV improves dramatically for both.
  • The next zone is the life. You can replace the light source with an LCD screen, bringing your original photo back. With Plasma you can not.
  • In the following sections, the theme of “picture quality” is planned. Firstly, the color LCDs produce sharp, vivid color. Delivering hot plasmas and more accurate color.
  • Depending on the levels of brightness is the TV and the ability to manage different angles. LCDs tend to do better in conditions of bright light.
  • Also related to the image quality is “black levels.” Black Plasmas tend to produce blacks.
  • Another area to consider is the contrast range. Plasmas, “technically”, producing a range of high contrast.
  • Finally, and certainly not least, is the price. At present, plasmas tend to run a little cheaper, but this is changing rapidly than LCDs flooding in the market. By the time you read this, in fact, there may be no difference at all.

Essentially, that is, right up to you for all tastes: What will you do for potential negative not really noticed? What do you want more positive? What do you really want from television - movies, sports, news, television shows fair? Both LCDs and plasmas have been strong defenders in their corner. Both deliriously happy customers. But these clients are just happy happy because they knew what they wanted before they made their purchase. If you want to make the right choice, you have to decide what you want and which of the two can best TV give you that.
