GPS, Yes! GPS for Spying people? NO!
Have you ever heard about GPS or did you ever try it for once? Today the usability of Global Positioning System or GPS is reach on every field. As a guidance on latest car, Replacing the function of compass and even map for travelers, Use as specific positioning gadget that require coordinate on civil engineering or even just for fun. These days, a GPS is something that you could easily found on every place, as easy as other popular gadget, such as cellphone, palm, communicator, etc.
GPS is actually working as a receiver that can calculate it position by communicate through signals with the satellites high above the Earth. The satellite then will responses back where it sent an information, where after it converted are including coordinates, latitude and longitude or specific location on a map. Back then GPS was developing for military purpose. It was first develop by the United States Department of Defense, where it first called as NAVSTAR-GPS. No one will thought before that this device could also use for tracking people with it GPS Tracking features.
Since it was firstly designed as military device, it’s not completely wrong if many people still have negative opinion about the functionality of GPS; many people still think that a GPS is solely a spying or tailing device that may violate individual privacy. Since this device also have a feature of GPS Tracking, where it can be used to track people almost everywhere on earth. So it is very possible when neither people nor government use it for sneaking on any person that they want to spy on.
Despite it very useful ability, I personally think that the idea of using GPS Tracking for spying people or get to know their position every time, whatever the purpose is a bad idea. Human privacy is a one of basic human right that should be protected by laws. It’s enough when US government made a blunder when they started to listen on every people phone calls on every home in America, although for a reason that may sounds good. But still, if I couldn’t have my privacy anymore, what other left? And who knows what would happen next after GPS Tracking is widely used?
